New Domain Name, Change Your Bookmarks

October 2, 2008

For those of you not in the know, the hip thing among the kids these days is to squeeze a little money out of your blogs, no matter how personal and unvisited they might be. Since I’ll be taking over the web hosting fees for PopFi soonishly, I went ahead and registered the domain subtlebluntness.com for myself. If you wouldn’t mind turning your many bookmarks in that direction, I would be forever in your debt.

So, Ron, when will you pollute your blog with official advertisements, and not just shameless self-whoring posts?

I don’t know, Strangely Abusive Internal Monologue. Maybe never, given how well my whole ‘port over old movie reviews from Living Corpse and add more to them’ plan went. Maybe as soon as this weekend. You can never tell with me, I just like to make sure everyone is warned well ahead of time, just in case.

Other people’s hard work pays off

March 26, 2008

So, two of my writing homes have hit big milestones lately, and I’m very proud of the people who caused it, even though I’m not one of them and it affects me only through tertiary means. Still, good news seems to abound everywhere.

First and foremost, this pregnant man story over at PopFi got us picked up by an AOL News blogger, which is always huge in terms of traffic. So congratulations to Trace for writing up an awesome, attention-grabbing article. You have to love it when someone sites you as a source of new and interesting news.

Secondly, since this is quite possibly a huger hit generator but also just happened this morning, Simon’s article about 38 remakes you may not have known about over at Den of Geek got picked up by the hits monster that is Fark. Of course, a few idiots comment on the fact that Anthony Minghella is dead, thus the article is a fail, but he was alive when the article was written, which goes to show you Fark lurkers don’t grasp the concept of dates on articles. Anyway, complaining over.

I knew Fark was big, but I had no idea it was quite as big as it actually is. I don’t want to give out details, but suffice it to say there were more hits on Den of Geek today than there have been in some whole months. Crazy, isn’t it? Here I thought I got good hits off bad jokes about Heath Ledger.

I Can’t Not Blog

February 8, 2008

Well, what do you get the guy who already blogs pretty much all over the Internet? Why, the one thing he needs more than anything else: another place to blog!

Because I wasn’t busy enough with the blog you read here, Den of Geek, Shaktronics, Sports Bastards, World of Warcraft, my heroin addiction, and my day job, I’ve found something else to keep me busy. Thanks in no small part to the groovy and sexy NewsComa, I find myself with a spicy new posting gig over at the awesome new website Popular Fidelity, hereafter known as PopFi, but not known as PopEye. I’ve been subscribed to it since it launched (even before I got enveloped by the Internet Octopus), so you know it’s the cream of the Internet crop in terms of cool goodies to ogle.

Check out my first PopFi post, about the world’s coolest 3-D touch-responsive video-game cube, here. I’m going to be the tech specialist over there (though I’m sure I’ll get my claws in other topics). Let me know what you guys think.

Your feedback is better than any paycheck is very important to me.
